    RS2 Steering Rack Part Numbers

    Hi,

Can anyone confirm the part number for the RS2 steering rack ?

I have a rack with part number 894 422 105b, any ideas if it is the same or which car it is from ?

    Thanks

    PAUL

894422105B is not a good number. Is that a casting number or a number on a silver and blue or silver and red "ZF" serial number plate? (As shown in the photo below for a C4 UrS4/S6 Servotronic Steering rack). As far as I can determine the RS2 steering rack (steering gear) is 895422065C for the LHD cars and 896422065B for the RHD cars.

The RS2 and S2 use the same steering rack. Part numbers are as UrS4boy states above.

FYI, all RS2 and S2 ID plates are green and sliver.

Good to know. (Now I have to back into your thread so find the steering rack and steal the photo)

Yeah, I had one that I was going to post here, but it's way to blurry and not up to my standards.

I'll see if I can snap one for ya this weekend.

What does the serial number tag say? Or is it missing?

                    URSBoy,

                    I am confused, on the casing I have 894 422 105B but on the green tag I have 896 422 065B ?

                    Which is correct.

I bought this advertised as an S2/RS2 rack, is it correct ???

                    Appreciate your help

                    Paul

Yes it's correct as confirmed by the ID plate.

A casting number does not a part number make (there are other examples of this). As I stated in post #2 in this thread, "As far as I can determine the RS2 steering rack (steering gear) is 895422065C for the LHD cars and 896422065B for the RHD cars."

So it would seem that you have a RHD steering rack. Hope that is what you wanted.
