Just fitted Mance's Promounts to front and OEM mounts with his Mountsavers on the rear of my CQ20v , on top of KW V1's just fitted too .
Mance is out of action till approx June due to health reasons, has a stack of PMs ready to assemble with bearings but won;t be able to do much until later in year.
I got my PMs from MAnce in March via a Quattroworld feller ( Cheers Bill from Seattle ) cos Mance couldnt get out to post overseas ( u have to be present in person at US Post office for o/seas stuff) . You need to specify which struts/inserts you are using as the bearing will need the appropriate inner 'top hat' sleeve.

Fitting/assembling of the KWs and PMs/MS's was a breeze, but it needs a 4 wheel alignemnt as soon as its all settled after a few miles . Does Wab The King still have his alignement machine down in Cheshire ?
To quote someone elsewhere, the difference in suspension now is 'night and day' , steering/cornering crisp and precise , need to get more miles on and alignment really but initially feels like a new car compared to the OEM set up .Only slightly lowered, it'll drop another few mm's when settled I reckon.
I used strictly OEM mounts brand new for the MS's on rear at Mance's advice.
On front I used VW Mk5 Golf top cupped washer ring, they are ++ deeper and really shouldve fitted a retainer ring under them, I suppose a urethane ring may suffice to stop them bottoming/dropping if lifting off over bump etc .
On front KWs, I noted that the top spring perch is made of a resin material, and overcautious maybe I though it may degrade with wear against the lower part of the spherical bearing so put a 2.5mm s/steel washer in between, this has added benefit of giving the bearing more clearance to move laterally , as it did look as though it was getting hindered by the top of the perch, works fine...Mance has a perch adaptor if using PMs with anything other than CCks or OEM struts .
BTW, fitted at same time a DIY version of the 034 injector upgrade fpr 7A engine, using Volvo T5 injectors and some adaptors for the rail from a German chap on Ebay . Much smoother tickover, revving and revs over 6K without sounding like its struggling .

And finally, after all that lot done, passed 1st time MoT , its a 1991 so decatted, pragmatic tester couldnt see why a cat needed to be there if it qualified for the pre-Cat test...emissions were way under the allowance.

Much thanks to all here and on Q/World in the US for ideas , assistance , help and advice , priceless !
will post more on the KWs when I've had it aligned in a week or so .

I really like that they clamp the strut tower so no movement.

If/when they go into production do you have a ballpark figure for a pair yet?

How much did the pro mounts end up costing once shipped over?

Any more details of the parts you used for the 7A injector conversion?

I'll get back to you tonite Andy when I've added up the figures ...but its a lot ! I was hanging on hoping that Rusty's topmount project might have happened , although Bambridges sound equally good, you are looking at around £300 for the PMs posted over here including UK Tax ( they are hot on that , little chance of swerving import tax these days ) I'll try and be more precise later.
Same same re;the ersatz 034 injector conversion...I have contact details for the German chap , and will post more re the Volvo injectors to use ( same flow just about as the initial 034 ones) ...more later when I get home !
BTW...Wab The King , if you are on , have you still got that German 4 wheel aligning machine with the old Audi settings at your place ?

Problem I had was that prices were just mental due to the small market potential for such a Gucci product. Would easily have been 250 a pair, more for the rears with strut brace! I'll get a set made one day, as I have the bearings and the design is offset, so will provide the benefits of additional castor but the investment to make a decent sized batch was well beyond my means.

Theres a lot more work than people realise on these things, maybe why Audi took the easy option and put crap OEMs in !

TopMounts from Mance: ( Promounts ) £210GBP from Mance to Seattle, $90US to ship from Seattle to UK, £40GBP UK Duty + $40US for Mountsavers from New Jersey Q/World guy shipped.
Used SKF Mounts ( OEm and as good as Boge/Sachs ) for rears, M/Savers were the red ring semi- sport ones NOT full race.
Couple of exact ID size 2.5mm thick S/Steel washers for front spring perch to give the bottom of sph.bearing more room to manouver and a bit of brace for the KW resin perch too . I'm not going to add it up all in ££s cos the missus might see ! ( Not to mention the KWs, although a good price from Yaz on here ),
All assembled onto KW coilovers , then fitted to car like a dream...new 10.9 bolts/locknuts all round too.
100% improved ride, handling especially turning/cornering...still needs 4 wheel align on a Beissbarth machine

The ersatz 034 Injector kit that I DIY'd from bits:
Adaptors including O-rings from this feller in Germany for 50Euros shipped:

A set of 5 Volvo injectors from a scrapper: £10 the lot .
Bosch Ref: 0280155831 run at 315cc/min @3Bar ( 334cc @ 3.8Bar usual 7A pressure) , as compared to the 034 injector 0280155759 328cc @3Bar . I didnt want too much fuel as I havent yet thought about ECU changes (yet ! ) . The 034's are at 15.6 Ohms, Volvo ones are 12 Ohms but unsure what difference that makes ?

£14 a piece for ultrasonic cleaning and new pintles/o-rings etc, balanced.
Old fuel rail from a 7A blasted and chrome powdercoated ( cheers Tec Coatings Blackpool ) £10 .
A couple of old spare connector plugs and a bit of wire to make a bridge to eliminate the resistor pack without having to cut wires.
All in about £100...fitted nicely, adaptors a bit of a squeeze into the rail but silicon grease helped, wondered if he'd given me wrong size o-rings at 1st, but not the case.
Much smoother , revs more freely and higher without sounding like its gonna pop, looks nice on the engine too ! I'll try a post a pic, but not figured how to do that yet.

A massive thanks to Russ at Westwell Garage in Blackpool for all his work, if he can't fix it it can't be fixed !

Thanks too to Bill in Seattle, Jason in New Jersey, the legend that is Mance in Denver and all here for valuable info and ideas, and finally to Blackpool FC and Ian Holloway, bring on West Ham !

BTw the injectors are not Volvo T5 they are from the S60/S70 Volvo Turbo 5cyl. The flow on the T5's are about 415cc/min so would need ++air intake and an ECU fiddle .
I'm guessing, having thought about it, that the lower impedance of the Volvo injector compared to the 034Bosch one would mean less strain on circuits in the ECU ( I heard that this was a reason for the use of the low impedance Hitachis on the 7A. )...any truth in this ? No reports of this upgrade mention any such probs

Interesting site and the various handy things they sell, slightly off topic, but if I understood German it would be better, but check this link for what I think is to do with rear brakes size upgrade for an S2 ?

Great, thanks for all the info Zefsider, still weighing up options, I only want to get one set of "proper" top mounts, dont want to trial and error it. Shipping etc adds up quick.

Good info on the injector upgrade, reasonable price on the adapters.

@Bambridge, i'm not sure about the locking ring with a poly mount, surely its just going to work loose and rattle as the mount gets compressed?

This was one thing i had heard about with the solid mounts, S2Spike had some solid ones on his and he showed me wear he had to constantly hammered then tight

I have drilled and tapped a 6m hole into the side, and dropped in a small piece of rubber to stop the grub screw from damaging the thread on the main body.

I have locked it tightley and cannot shift the locking ring by hand, and the tread is fine afterwards

this was a fault on assembly, not the mount itself!!
mine used to come loose too, until we found the issue,it was the spring cup hitting the top mount when on full lock, there wasnt enough gap between them..now sorted and mine have lasted more than 3k miles

these ones with poly in WILL come loose as the softer material compresses,as will the solid engine/box mounts that are on offer

excatly right,as the softer material wears/compresses,the mount will be loose in the housing, even if the locking ring isnt loose
