Servotronic going cronic?

Could Anyone explain to me how and if and what etc etc the servotronic works on a 3B S2

Lift up the rear seat and disconnect it basically, its a top mod for the 3b, steering feels a lot tighter.

Just pulled the plug on the servotronic and apart from the steering going really heavy it now makes a horrible knocking noise?

We have had the rack reconditioned and i thought that if the pump was playing up it would bring up my brake warnig light

Have you got enough PAS fluid? Check the levels.
Sounds like it could be the pump if you've got a re-con rack (unless the re-con was dodgy, which does happen: my previous rack was a re-con and that was dodgy, it sprung a leak 4 months later, just past the warrany period of course).

When I disconnected the Servotronic, I suffered from NO side effects, just got heavier, but better, steering.

You can replace the 3B rack with the standard non-servotronic rack from any PAS A80 of that body shape. It fits, and works perfectly, just without servotronic, which is rubbish anyway. I know because that's what I've just done to finally solve my leaking re-con servotronic rack problem!

Looks like the rack is leaking! under warranty but i bet the bloke wont come and fit the bloody thing

Good luck! How long have you had the re-con rack? That sounds exactly like what happened to mine - hey maybe you've actually ended up with my old rack!

Its been in the car about a week, we put it in during the engine rebuild we did so it was nice and easy to fit then
