Have realised that the pictures aren't very good, they were taken to the n/s of the engine and the leaking hose (I think) goes to the hydraulic reservoir. So in the pic the drive shaft you can see is the n/s front.
i vote for the pipe going pourus, as it seems to be most of the pipe length, if it was the lower clip (my 1st thaught) gravity would just make it drop down

No brake waring lights or anything else with the autocheck. Sleeper have you found a diagram of the brake system? Might just order a replacement hose, does anyone have a psrt number?
That hose leading to the top of the bomb is probably just worn because of the angle and age.
You can replace it with any other 8mm oil rated hose or fluoro silicone hose. It could also just be that your clip is lose but the fluid your seeing is power steering fluid which might need topping up now. its G004000 mark 2 from audi or Febi 6161 from GSF or ECP.
as someone has said. looks like the top of the brake bomb.
follow the pipe upwards and it should go to a tee-junction. one side runs to the bottom of the hydraulic reservoir, the other side runs along the top of the steering rack area and joins onto the rack on the drivers side with a banjo fitting.
sometimes the pipes deteriorate and leak.
Cheers for all the replies, just the info I was after, I'll probably just get some new hose.
you might find its more than just a piece of hose. the fittings alone are quite expensive.
audi charge a fair bit for it and when i went to get one made it wasn't cheap either.
If its the one I think it is nla when I tried a few months ago and Peter reeve said he could get one but was around £250.... Getting one made is prob cheaper. I got lucky with a car being broken
