RS2 tie rod - bushing on the "other" end

I need to replace the bushing on both sizes of the tie rod. I can buy rod ends with part # 811419812A. But what about the other end. Can I buy a replacement bushing and not the entire tie rod ? Anyone knows the part number for that bushing ? Or where I can buy 2 ( one for each side )

Hi Targus, I contacted Bambridge and waiting for his reply. I don't mind having OEM bushings. Do you know the size or where I can get them. I assume when you say Bambridge provides up-rated bushings, it does confirm that the bushing can be replaced and not having to replace the entire tie rod, correct ? Thx

i have tried bambridge bushes. This is my opinion only, and i can say that they need to be more flexible. The tie rods go into angles when steering or the road has an incline on one side for example and the aftermarket bushings not having that flexibility make the rods jump on their mountins rather than having a smooth movement. The jump is noticable in the steering. I had to remove them, and looking at them afterwards, i had also damaged them as in my thinking in order to reduce the knock, i tightened them as much as possible so they were pushed in.

Also the bracket that the bushings mount on can be damaged potentially from them, as the bolts being mounted on a more rigid bush will start to move around. Make sure you weld the bolts on the bracket before using the bushings.

OEM, you just buy the whole tie rods as the inner bushings are not available. Cheaper option to buy aftermarket for 35-45euro instead of 125 that they cost from audi.

After having tried all options, however, i bought the OEM tie rods again, and they will be fitted shortly. I have been having serious problems with the alignment being off all the time, and i suspect its the bracket that the rods tie in, as the bolts on mine have become loose so that could allow movement of the rods and the alingment to go off slightly all the time(tracking).

*** This is my personal experience with the bushings and does not reflect a wider view of them***

Yours can't have been fitted properly as when installed properly they move more freely in the vertical plane the the OEM ones.
You are right though the captive bolts need welding, but to be fair mine came loose on standard tie rod bushes before me and Kev came up with these Delrin ones.

I'm pretty sure they were fitted properly.

Initially the alloy tube that the bolt goes through was fairly longer and that was one of the reason of the 'rod jump' when turning the wheel from side to side. When we reduced the size of it it got better but it still did it.
The of course from overtightening the bolts, the actual bush was pushed in and squished

              Hi Vas,
Spoke to Brian about your problems and must admit havin sold well over 100 fronts pairs of these, yours seem to be the only ones with problems so far??
Alex was the first person to test them before we started any production on them(3yrs ago) And he seems happy with them

I also have made and supplied the rear coupe & Avant/RS2 rear tie rod bushes and again no complaints.

On a good note your rear coilover kit is now with Brian

Yes. I full agree with you Kev that mine have been the only ones with the problem, so it has been a bit of a head scratching on this one. However I have gone back to oem. I have kept your bushings if you want me to send them for inspection

Did see your brilliant work on the coilovers. I hope the rears wont slip! But he will be on the job fairly soon!

Stick them in your car when you take it down to Brians, i have asked Brian to let me know when they are fitted and hopefully pop over when you come to pick it up.
Would be good to meet up have a look at them and drink Brians coffee
As for the rear coilovers slipping, as long as the oem circlip is used then cant see a problem

                  Cheers

                  Kev
