Front struts on S2

Don't know if anyone was aware that the front shocks on our cars are made by Bilstien but stamped Boge. Been on the phone to Boge when the new shocks arrived and the fronts were to small in diameter, after giving them the boge p/t no from the old shocks they phoned back saying that they never have made the front shocks for the S2, phoned me back an hour later after finding out that Bilstien made them for boge, and if you phone Bilstien they say they don't make the Oem fronts for the S2 only the B6s The rear ones are made by Boge and are £75 + vat each as aposed to the stealers at £135 + vat. Well happy with the rears exellent quality just have to wait now for the Kybs for the fronts don't know what they are like.

KYB make a lot of OEM stuff so I'm sure they will be good quality

Was quite a while ago now when I got them but RS2 shocks used to be significantly cheaper than S2 shocks

Just picked up the kybs and they are also wrong diameter so going to go for the boge rears with a 6mm spacer just tried it with the rears iv already got fit a treat oh and they come with new cap nuts so saved myself £58.40 from Tps as he has just taken the ones i had ordered back

rear dampers will probably be totally the wrong rate for the front axle though mate, don't forget the front weighs axle nigh on 2x what the rear does

Right didn't think of that, well there is a pair of front Billie b4s oem on fleabay for the S2 avant they are the same as the coupe as i recall so i think i will bell them first before i buy.

Shocks arrived yesterday after 7 days opened the box and guess what yep the wrong ones again they are for a normal audi coupe/avant. The people at the place where i bought them from assured me they were for the Rs2 as the specs were 50mm in diameter and the info was from bilstein themselves. They are only 42mm. Iv had enough now four sets of shocks and all the wrong ones. So it's either Tps as i want to try stay standard if poss, or b6 fronts and oem rears anyone got any thoughts on this set up.

Only way to be sure is measure your struts, 50 or 55mm can be either

RS2 spec is 55mm

I have been told from peeps on here that S2s are also 55mm have measured mine with digi calipers and they are 49mm to be exact just bought new boge rears and also 49mm.

are you measuring the inserts or the strut tube itself, I think that is where the confusion is

Right the inserts are 49mm didn't realise its the thread thats 55mm the cap nut on the so called Rs2 inserts as an inner diameter of 50mm. I can't see that these inserts will be any good as they flop about inside the strut where the boges are a snug fit. It seems that audi are the only place you can get oem inserts for the fronts and thats why they are the price they are.
