    S2 heavy duty/Rally Suspension

I have officially become fed up with the terrible road conditions here in Brazil.
I'm at stock ride height and my car still scrapes on speed bumps and bottoms out the suspension on a daily basis.
I have decided to take a different route with modifying my car, I can't imagine how annoying and stressful it would be to have lowered suspension and larger wheels.

So i have decided to replace the shocks and springs on my car, I'm looking for a heavy duty shock absorbers with more suspension travel and longer springs. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on shock absorber and spring brands.
    '
I am flying to the states next week and would like to order the parts online sometime next week so i would be able to bring them back with me. Any advice and suggestions are very much appreciated!!

    Cheers.

Has anyone on the forum done something like this??
I was looking to get something less complicated, something like a bolt on off road shock absorber with more travel and a longer spring to lift the car....

Have a read through these threads for ideas

I am currently working on a 1990 Audi Coupe Quattro rally car. I have found that it is very hard to find rally suspension for these cars. Does anybody have any suggestions as to where I can go to buy rally suspension? Or does it have to be custom made?

A little background before I go in to discusion about some mods I am about to under go a big suspension and brake upgrade on my 88 90q. Its been needing alot of this stuff for awhile now and im planning on doing it all in one shot on a lift at work. I have been compliling new parts and re...

i wanna make my quattro a dirt machine. can anyone suggest good struts/ springs to use to do this??? i wanna (in time) be able to jump this thing so i want alot of travel but not so squishy it'll suck aon the road.... maybe adjustable struts??? i was thinking about making custom...

I think Derracuda had a 90q with passat springs on it for a lift as well.

YES! I forgot just how good these things really are... they've been sitting up on the shelf in the garage since like.. 04'? I presume you've checked to verify that the oem sponge/rubber bump stops front and rear are still in good order and have not worn away, thereby a partial cause of your problem ?

Just so the rest of us can better appreciate what your roads are like, do you have any photos of a typcial section of road with a speed bump and or pot hole ?, without going to any trouble.

My recollection is that the original oem height was quite high from a practical / clearance point of view, and way too high from an aesthetic point of view.

            Nice car by the way.

            Kind regards.

                  The rim bender...

                  Typical cobblestone street...

And the thing that pisses me off the most, ****** patch jobs

Now do you understand why i'm fed up this this bull ****....
Not to mention the massive speed bumps that scrape even my mum's bone stock Honda Civic.....

wow. luky you got quattro then .. thats just shocking and i thought that the roads were bad in ireland. if that cobblestone rumbled much it would drive me bonkers, a cement truck drove through my town whill still pouring a little muk out the back, one straight line of rumble whole way through town

LOL, I can't say I miss the roads in Brazil. Thing is, the whole time I was in Bahia and they told me they were WAY better in the south!! What part of the states are you visiting?

I live in SantaCatarina, I've been to Bahia and yea the roads here are way better but the speed bumps are still massive and being that this state was colonized mosty by German immigrants around ww2 there are cobblestone streets allover the state, unfortunately they don't see much maintnance. But I can't complain about the highways here in the south of brazil, there top notch and well maintained.
I used to live in Miami, I was pretty much raised there, lived there since 94 .I moved back to brazil in 2010...

Bilstein B6 with a spacer on the lower spring seat or a set of standard height springs off an 80 V6.

Thats more what i was thinking, do the Bilstein's bolt on relatively easily? I'm thinking standard audi 80 springs will give me enough clearance....

                            Cheers!

Thanks for the photos, I don't envy your roads, especially the "gold bars" speed ramps, but I do envy your car.

V6 Quattro oem springs will be higher than oem S2, and give a nice comfortable ride.

                              17" rims as the max, or maybe 8 x 16 with 225 x 45 x 16 ?

                              Good luck.
