They are designed to be used with boge/Sachs mounts.

They can have my car when they pry my cold dead fingers from the steering wheel.

A while back I bought a set of "something" from Mance and I'm about to install them in new mounts. I don't know if they are Mount Savers or Mount Savers II or what, but they are the metal and red plastic rings. I am pretty sure I know where they go, but does the metal go on top or the plastic or opposite?

EDIT: I got the answer from another forum. Metal on top of the red plastic.

If the urethane rings are red, you have the 'Sport' MSII's ....the red urethane is a harder version than the others, so more durable...fit them alloy ring top -most ....don't fit them in old top-mounts, you must get a new set , and they've gotta be Boge/Sachs ...had mine in for 18 months now and still no knocking or collapse of the top mounts

none left now from Mance , that was the last run of production

I was going to use them with a set of the less-common shorter mounts as for the ur-quattro. I'm not sure of the brand, but I bought them from "urquattrob" on Ebay. Here's his current auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/291093036049 . The ones I received are not completely blue like the picture, but appear to be the ones I was after.

The Sport MSII's do fit into them apparently fine, but if you know whether they are the correct mounts to use, or not, please let me know.

yeah they will fit in the blue mounts ....although no need to use the blues when you are putting MS2's in because they will impart sufficient stiffness in an ordinary set without going for the extra stiffness of the blue ones ....you might as well put an ordinary set up front with the MS2s, and use the blues on the rear (gives you a couple of mm drop on the rear too )...up to you though , but like the Mance said, use Boge or Sachs if you do !

                  Okay, good. Thanks!

My thought in using the blues in front is to let the struts extend out just a little more at the same right height. I have KW coilovers on the car and it's low enough for me (no wheel well gap), but I was thinking since I am replacing the front mounts anyway then the shorter ones it might be better for the strut to be less compressed at static height (meaning I will raise the perches a bit in front to maintain the current height).

I suppose coilover struts don't care where the static height is compare to standard struts that sometimes have a "sweet spot" that's softer than the extremes.

In any case, I already bought the blue mounts to quiet up some knocking in the front. I wasn't planning on messing with the rear except to raise it up slightly. Someday I will install the Whiteline rear bar as well.

I have one pair but I need to get my act together as they are supposed to be used as a pattern to make up some more sets.. watch this space but your best bet is to beg Lloyd to sell you a pair.

I have the MountSaver I style, they seem very robust. Mance said that they were more heavy duty than the MSIIs and I wouldn't doubt it. Does anyone know what material was used on the original versions?
