    S6 suspension

Looking to overhaul the suspension as it knocks a bit and guessing that after 176k miles its probably due

Have seen the group buys on here for koni, bilstein and KW but thing that's probably more than I need so looking for advice on what to go for. Not contacted audi for prices as I assume they are too expensive or am I wrong?

Have seen a kit by Blauparts for the s6 which seems a good deal at $395 for shocks, top mounts and bolts etc. Anyone tried them or heard about them? Are there any other kits to consider?

Just did mine. I upgraded from konis to spax on car adjustables. Also changed all the bushes, front and rear. Along with track rods and ball joints. Did subframes mounts with solid at the same time. Figure in about 500 quid in bits excluding dampers and springs.

The spax are a good improvement over koni and the rear is height adjustable.

            Hi Yaz

Just after standard dampers really. Not sure i want to spend the extra on performance dampers as its a daily family car so want to keep it comfortable and assume the standard ones are reasonably good. Do you do standard spec? I'm in Southend

Thanks. That's the sort if money I'm looking to spend. Hoping to get the car on a ramp on Friday and see what the underneath looks like and exactly what needs doing.

B4s may have the wrong top thread size. Not sure if that prohibits fitting or not but if you want a compromise shock B6 is probably better option and are available in the right top nut size. Also B4s may cause rear to sit too high if split ring which spring seat sits on is higher on non sport C4 suspension. Sorry not replied to PM yet had a lot on recently maybe meet up next week for a drink?

                      Got yours sorted yet?

Finally got all the parts I need, have gone for a fibreglass RS2 style bumper which shouldn't look too out of kilter with the rest of the car, will hopefully be fitting the wing this weekend in order to be able to test fit the bumper but it will have to come off again unfortunately until its primered as untreated fibreglass won't stand up to the elements.

I'm running H&R lowering springs and Bilstein B8s on the S6.

Problem is, it's too low for the roads around here.

Is there a way of raising the ride height 20-30mm without going back to stock springs/shocks (which will cost around £800)?

Anyone done this using spacers etc?

                          Cheers,
                          Tom

Lowest point on the s6 is around the middle of the car near the cats. Raising the rear only may be enough for your needs and this can achieved by machining a higher groove on the damper in which the rear spring seat sits. You can use a spacer but make sure it is lipped to cover the split ring or it could pop out. For the front I think it would have to be different springs, the eibachs sit higher than the h&rs if you can find a pair.

Spacing the rear is easy! An aluminium spacer underneath the spring perch will sort this out. I'm not sure whether the front would be quite so straightforward.
'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.
