    Wishbones

Are front and rear wishbones ( pressed type ) interchangeable. i.e fronts will fit rears and vice versa.

      True,

On the coupe and S2 they are a different shape at the front to the rear (be it pressed or cast which are interchangeable) but on the UR and 80/90 saloon quattros they are interchangable however if on an earlier car you need to ensure if using rears on the front on any early ur/80/80 that the wishbones have the extra bit for the early anti roll bar mounting which is conected directly to the wishbone.

I have never checked the offset front coupe and S2 wishbones with their offset balljoint to see if they are in alighment with the ur/80/90 wishbones fitted with the only slightly offset ball joint. But the 1988 and 1991 10v and 20v 90's use the same subframe with different wishbones (on our 90 10v they are pressed and the same type as the rear with a sightly offset balljoint which is not the same as the rear balljoint, my 90 20v has a cast front wishbone like my 3b S2 with the offset balljoint so they should really be interchangable otherwise the wheelbase between a 10v and 20v 90 would be different and how can it be as the shell and subframe are the same ?)

I have a couple of sets of the forged front type from a S2 and I was looking to using a set on the back,

I have offered these up to the rears from a WR quattro and they look very close
