    S2 Avant Rear Overhaul

    Anybody BTDT recently ?

Just keen to know how much benefit there would be in renewing all rear bushes on the upper arm and hub carrier in addition to wishbone bushes. The car has 100k miles...

The car is in for RS2 ARBs, drop links, HiSpec brakes and rear bearings so just wondered if the extra time and effort on renewing all the other bushes was worthwhile.

Maybe the partsmen amongst us can guage this from how often they need to supply those parts ?

    Cheers,

    Paul

HEY.... back off Jim ... Welcome to the brotherhood Paul, I knew the dark side would attract you! he he...

But seriously, The hub carrier bushes are a yes @ 100K I've got to change mine in a week. As are my rear flexi brake hoses at that mileage. The wishbone bushes, have to say no really! mine are fine at 100K just had them checked. The back end of the far superior Avants is just not under so much stress, so I say just the hub carrier bushes 8A0 505 171C.

All the other wishbone bushes are a no in my (supplied opinion).

Jees guys - NO I haven't joined the Avant fraternity just yet... I'm just recce'ing some work on an Avant.

If money was no object I'd have an Avant as a runabout and a stripped out Coupe for weekend entertainment. But hey...

Cheers for the parts advice Martyn and the prices - will be adding some more items to the 'green' list !

            Nah,

            The 'Shooting Brake' is mine!

Paul is very kindly applying his knowledge to a few issues I have prior to MOT....('cos you need RS ARB's to pass MOT in my part of the world....and home fries....and decent stoppers...)

I wait for the green list with 'anticipation...'

            Cheers
