    B5 quattro vibration?

My B5 Quattro has a low rumble vibration, mainly when WOT in first, and it also drones in and out at around 70km/h in 4th.

I tried swerving sharply to see if it is more prominent on one side, and may have been when loaded on the left, but I haven't confirmed that yet and could be coincidental.

Any ideas as to what this could be? Something to do with the prop shaft perhaps?

have a controll of the bearing in the wheel.... it will NOT be some slac or some loose wheel, but the bearing have "pitting" inside...OR the flywheel are gone bad....double bass @#//%ยค!

I think the previous owner said there was a lighter flywheel put in when the clutch was replaced. The vibration does go away when the clutch is disengaged.

Could anything at the rear cause this type of rumble?

          Yes,

Checked to see if the wheel bearings are gone.

Did my brothers rear wheel bearings before he sold it, was rumbling/vibrating pretty badly.

if anything, the clutch would 'chatter' when in neutral, not while engaged. maybe very slightly on take off but never above that.

I've heard a worn wheel bearing before and it sounds different, but I won't doubt that it could be that.

I was thinking maybe the centre rubberised bearing for the prop shaft could be the culprit?

Hmm unlikely but worth a shot.

I find with these annoying little things, you end up replacing bit by bit until its gone.. the last thing is the one that fixes it (and is usually the most expensive)
