  • Differences between URS4 (HP2) struts and URS6 struts

    Hi Guys,

    Can anyone tell me the possible differences between URS4 (HP2) struts and URS6 struts?

    I am unsure on what the URS6 struts are like....

    Thanks

    I think only very late urs4s came with the hp2 struts

    this will give you an idea between ufo and hp2 though

      you may use any strut from audi 100/200/a6/s6.... -97 c4...if you want to change the ufo verson from s4.... its the same car( new wrappin) look for the 5stud verson( some of the smallest engine and older verson did hav 4 stud wheels, but it will fit too...)

        I should probably explain a bit more;

        I'm buying an S6 which has a collapsed strut (the spring cup has rotted away), and I have 2 x URS4's (scrappers) which have good struts both HP2.

        The idea was that I send a URS4 HP2 strut to the seller and then the car could be fixed and driven home.

        Trouble is I don't know if the URS6 strut is HP2 or not.....and whether it'll fit...?

        The URS6 is N reg so '96, don't know if that helps.....

          So basically what your saying is that;
          • it could be a direct swap if it's HP2, or
          • It could be fitted (as link above) if it's UFO......

            The "strut" (aka wheel bearing housing) used by the later C4 UrS6s including the S6 plus is the 4A0412025AC (and 026AC). So this would be an HP2 brake-capable strut. When you cross reference that PN back, it goes to the 1993-94 UrS4s (but not the 1992 UrS4s). The UFO struts were 025/026 G. So using UrS6 struts (wheel bearing housings) in a non-UFO UrS4 would be fine. Replacing UrS4 UFOs with HP2s can be done with UrS6 025/026 AC wheel bearing housings.

              If you have HP2s from an S4 then they will be a direct swap on the S6. The S6 never had ufos.

                Is there any way that the URS4 HP2 strut and the URS6 HP2 could be slightly different or are they exactly the same?

                This is what the seller sent me;
                ".....maybe the S6's were lower than the S4's? The spring cup is also higher on the one you sent compared to the S6 also. Pity they had to have changed so much on them."

                Or are both HP2 struts the same part no?

                  If anything the UrS6s were higher not lower than the UrS4s, at least comparing 1BA non-sport suspensions.

                  Re: PNs for UrS HP2 struts, please read and review my previous post.
