S2 coupe front shocks

I need to replace the front shocks on my 93 s2 coupe. I have tried my local factors but the shocks they provide are the wrong size (thinner than the shocks already on the car and would rattle about inside the strut). I am a bit worried about buying from evilbay in case I have the same issue. Any ideas where I can buy a pair of correct front shocks? I live in the Midlands

There are 2 sizes of front struts. Earlier cars use the smaller items, later cars use the larger ones. IIRC, the later car use an insert with an OD of 55mm.

You can fit RS2 front shocks to a later car too.

Eurocarparts sell Bilstiens nice upgrade, sure I,ve seen a set on fleabay not too long back keep checking. Just get them to measure the diametre for you

Thanks. I've had 3 pairs now from 2 different suppliers all with an OS diameter of 44mm the shocks off the car have an OS diameter of 48mm (not 55mm). The shocks off the car are BOGE part no 895413503C which I am told are obsolete - any ideas?

That's an Audi part number. I may have a new, genuine set of these at home. I'll check tonight.

Hi mate, all S2's use 55mm struts. Bilstein B6 sports are the popular upgrade and as I run the groupbuy on this forum for Bilstein, just let me know and I'll send you a price mate (if you want...)

S2 shocks

Thank you guys for getting back to me - show this forum works! I have just collected a pair from Quattro Corner in Birmingham, unfortunately my S2 has been occupying a ramp at my local garage since last Thursday and they are getting a bit shirty so I had to do something quickly. Thanks again for your responses - Steve
