    Strut brace on B3CQ

I'm thinking of fitting a strut brace as per the S2 onto my B3 CQ.
Depending on the ground that the car is parked on, sometimes the doors don't shut right and this has got me thinking about the strength/rigidity (or lack of!) of the shell.
My car is very original and as much as I want to keep it so I think that a strut brace would be a sympathetic modification.
Can anyone tell me if this would be worthwhile doing.

    John.

Yes it makes a noticeable dfference to the handling, as does adding a rear brace, and a lower brace between the chassis rails

Think about what You are going to do with the accumulator battery in this case.

An original strut brace from an S2 will fit with no clearance issues of the battery and the brake servo. I have done it a few times....

Got any details/links to the above?

Tonks, is it best to seam weld the edge or drill holes and spot it.....how's the S2's done.
Where's best to get the brackets and what about the brace, S2 item or just buy a bit of square bar?

          Thanks all.
          John.

Most of the ones I have seen were stitch welded and that is how I did mine.
The strut brace brackets also fit onto the rear strut towers nicely, or you can use a universal style brace or make one up.
Lower chassis brace make a nice difference too - have a look at what I did here

Hm. I didn't manage to install it nicely with usual 175mm height acc battery. Don't You have a photo?

A front strut brace is very OEM+, after all Audi decided to do it to the S2s and v6s.

You can still buy the brackets cheap from Audi (2 of the same side, but it really does not matter). I welded around the edge when I did my rear one

A rear one is easy to do as well. (part No.s for the brackets in the link)

I probably have a spare 3B brace (round one, with insulation for above the battery, ABY/V6 are box) if you want it, just need to collect it from Alloa)
