    Wishbone bush bolt question

Is it safe enough to use 8.8 tensile bolts for the inner wishbone bush fixings, or are the 10.9 (AFAIK) O.E. items the minimum required?

I would use OE, simply because i think these bolts stretch when fitted to the correct torque and should be replaced as a precaution each time they are removed. Thats what i would do anyway...

i WILL NOT use 8,8 bolts in THAT place... to the engine, and tranny parts.. ok... but i will use org P/N or better quality, you got 12,8 too, but im not shure they are sink plated in that strength..

also 12.8 is (iirc) a bit more brittle than 10.8 (a machine expert once lectured me on bolts when I told him about the brake conversion and the issue I had with finding the right bolt), so don't always assume you can take a higher strength bolt if the normal one i snot available

Absolutely, in fact I would expect an 8.8 to be absolutely fine.

Picked up some dealership 10.9 bolts this evening. I see they are threaded their entire length where as I'm sure the set I used on my last coupe were smooth/shanked about 2/3 of the way. Is this okay?

I moved away from using the O/E shanked bolt because I believed the fact they were shanked allowed movement in the subframe hole causing clunking. That said, the standard bolts I used instead were bolts not setscrews as you describe.

Sorry, by entire length I meant excluding the hex head. My error for not being clear.
