    Suspension setup for RS2

    hi folks,

I am doing the procurement of all the suspension parts for my RS2. I want to get the replacement of the shocks and springs (a bit lower) at the same time, the question is whether I should go for coilover route or spring+shock combo. I've got a B5 RS4 which is running on KW V3 coilover. Its the best coilover I've run on it (I've tried PSS9, AST & KWV3) but the only down side is its quite difficult to adjust the rear bound setting (have to lift up the car).

I dont intend to track the car at all, the RS2 may replace my RS4 as a daily runner. I know there are quite a bit of discussion about the suspension setup in this forum, but what is the most highly recommend setup? I do want the car sit a little bit low (maybe ~20-30mm drop?) but yet still driveable over speed bump / indoor car park / ramp without clearance issue. Adjustability of shocks is a plus to ensure I would be able to do the fine tuning...

Interested in what this thread elicits.

I'm in a similar dilemma with my daily S2 Avant.

    Thanks.

I have a set of KW V1s on my b4 Sedan (same set for the avant), i absolutely love them. I also had a set of them on my Coupe quattro (400hp S2 clone), and they were the ideal suspension. If you have had KWs in the past, there shouldn't be any real need to convince you. they are wonderfully made and properly balanced for these cars.

Noted, but to be put your comments into context, how smooth are your roads where you are driving ?

I live in Malta and the roads are horrendous, the type where sometimes you feel the car is almost on 3 wheels . I have KWs on the coupe, at first they were very good as I hadn't really done much to stiffen the suspension. But combine it with a whiteline RARB on stiffest setting, RS2 FARB, polybushed, OEM engine, tranny and diff mounts, 225/45R17 with about 40Psi front and 37Psi rear, it is decent however not what you would call comfortable.

If the car is for weekends only, then it is ok but if it is for everyday use, you may want to limit additional bits and bobs that stiffen the suspension. 18" rims are out of the question but KWs alone should still leave a decent ride

18" out of the question on your car with KW3, or KW3 out of the question with 18" and oem bushes ?

            Thanks.

With KW on my car, they are V1s but heard that V3s ride better not sure if that is true . KW with standard ARBs should be ok on 18"

Personally it's just the roads in Malta that put me off

Thanks folks, yes I believe KW V3 might be the same route. as I said the only issue I have with this kit is the way to adjust the rear bound which is located at the bottom of the strut, and yet you need to use a metal tool to rotate it in 1/4 turn each time... its a bit tedious to me and I need to work from under the car (unlike other coils system you can adjust it while the car is jet up a little bit only)
