I've read somewhere the difference between Sedan and Avant is something like 10kg. Could be for the B4 only since battery is in a different place.

Edit: Looking at your vid, hard high speed inbound damping would help next to the springs

I'm also going to make some custom coilovers for my urS6. What I'm trying to figure out, is the maximum amount of ride height adjustment (front and rear) I'd be able to get. What I want ideally is a setup that can be similar to the 1BA suspension for the big speed bumps and country tracks around where I live, but then able to be dialled down by 60mm+ for use on the track.

Would that amount of adjustment be possible, or are you limited by the range of the spring and damper? If so, what do people reckon the maximum adjustment is?

      Cheers,
      Tom

That won't really work with off-the-shelf dampers Tom, as the stroke length will be tiny after a huge drop like 60mm and you will blow them in quick fashion. You really need to set your ride height then adjust the dampers to suit. You might be able to get dampers revalved to work with a much shorter stroke length, really its best to speak to a specialist about this. You will find, as I did that the cost of doing it properly is far higher than buying KWs or similar.

This is the problem - you can't get an off-the-shelf fully adjustable coilover kit for the S6.. as far as I know, anyway.

For the rear I'm going to take adjustable GAZ shocks. Shocks only with spring rings are 300e/pair. Full struts like in the pic are 500e/pair. You can get the shocks in different lenghts.

For the front I'll propably go with adjustable Spax or custom made GAZ. I already did order a stainless sleeve kit from bambridge, for the front struts.

Are you going to convert your HP2 struts to coilovers?

How much was these parts from Bambridge?

What Springs / Shocks are you using on the front? and how much?

Yes I am. You have to ask bambridge because I got a total shipped to Finland. Propably little cheaper in UK area.

I havn't bought the shocks and springs yet, but I will try 800 lbs in front and 600 in rear. Springs are 66 euro/each + support springs 50e/each. Rear GAZ shocks 300e/pair. Front chocks(GAZ or Spax) are something similar.

I have a semi-custom coil-over setup on Da Monstah. I run 500f/550r springs and the overall feel is excellent. The system incorporates modified dual adjustable Koni racing shocks.

Hap, wit dakine shocking news not from Evahboost, Maguire

Hi Thuppu - did you get any further with these?

One thing I've been wondering... once you've converted to coilovers, how easy do you reckon it would be to swap out the front springs & dampers ? e.g. If I convert, could I run a softer spring for the road and easily swap for a stiffer track spring?

                          Cheers,
                          Tom

I bought a pair of brand new rear shocks with H&R springs for 250 euros, only the sleeves are used. Will see how they works, the springs are only 500 LBS. Propably will test 750 LBS in front...

Update in this thread. Dicided to try 750lbs front springs and 150lbs helper springs. Still need to buy new shocks. The old Koni Sports arn't good anymore. Maybe I'll buy same ones new..?
