We never got the auto-adjusting C4 avant suspension on this side of the pond so I have no idea (exactly) how the factory did it. I would consider manually air-adjustable rear shocks if they were available.
Any C4 avant owners with any experience with this?

I quite fancy a C4 allroad. Didn't even know the C4 has self leveling untill I read it somewhere the other day. I would also be intrigued to know how they worked it. Problem is, looking at every other 20 year old self leveling system they are all failing in one way or another.
I've just started doing air bags that screw onto coilovers for the VW boys. I can already offer an off the shelf kit for the rear of a C4. Can also do a single bump air spring that replaces a tender spring in a system for a 6cm lift system. I quite fancy combining the 2, having the lowered height static, on springs. At a usable height. Then bags to raise it back to stock height when needed. Means you always have a backup system.
Something I've seen on your side of the world is air springs that go inside large Oe springs, rear c4 springs are quite skinny though.
