    WTB Subframe mounts.

When driving hard on harsher road surfaces I'm still not quite 100% happy with the ride in my S2 so I've decided to revert to stock subframe bushes over the alloy ones fitted now that have been on there since I got the car.

I need all eight, where's best value place to get OE quality items? They don't have to be genuine just of equal or better quality, I'm guessing TPS will try and bum me, anyone know what the one's from ECP etc are like?

im interested to hear peoples thoughts. I will be doing a complete suspension rebuild soon.
I priced up genuine parts and one of the front subframe bushes was £96
The rear track control arm for a coupe was only £76

I refurbed one of these subframes with all 8 bushes 7 years ago,the ride was very good but still relatively firm using audi bushes.Road noise definitely reduced from worn bushes.Price wasn't too bad then in fact relatively cheap. But now It's silly money.Last time i looked there were 4 rings on the bonnet grill not a prancing horse. If i wanted a Ferrari i would have bought one!

Ha ha, I was trying to figure out if that was an epic typo that should read burn or if TPS are into "alternative" education ha ha.

Put poly ones in, more control no increase in noise... (Also easier to fit)

I did consider poly bushes, plus I can fit them without fully dropping the subframes which is a major bonus, I'll check out whats available.

Just Ordered 8 Febi subrame bushes off Amazon of all places, Don't know if Febi made the originals but previously I've used Febi wishbone bushes which have had the audi part number removed so I believe they will have been an OE supplier. Anyways 8 bushes for under £40 delivered.

Febi 7179 is 12mm centre 46 high and 39 dia equiv to 8a0 199 415b, difficult to fit as
              has top hat rubber bit

Febi 7180 is 10mm centre 46 high and 39 dia equiv to 893 199 415, easy to fit as no top hat rubber was generally used on earlier (pre 89 chassis) cars

Febi 7181 as 7180 equiv to 893 199 415a but harder to fit as has top hat rubber

Febi 10115 is 12 mm centre 42 high and 38 dia metal outer sleeve equiv to 8a0 199 419

Febi 7182 is 10mm centre 42 high and 38 dia metal other sleeve equiv to 893 199 419

Febi 15898 equiv to 8a0 199 419a, looks like may have been fitted to later Cabriolets as outer sleeve is rubber

Do a search on Amazon with the 'febi xxxx' in search to find the suppliers.

              Regards,

              Dave.

Are these the M10 versions ?

There's been a huge price hike by Audi for these bushes. Latest full retail price before discount is £48 per bush.

Personally I wouldn't use Febi, they are average quality at best. If you want OEM quality try and get Meyle or Lemforder

Yeah I've experienced disappointing quality Febi parts and heard the same from other members as well. Think I'll take you up on your offer of the poly bushes Alex, reckon they cold be a happy medium between totally solid and stock, I'll drop you a PM in a bit.

Waiting on the febi mounts to arrive so will report back on quality when they do, however IMHO they will be OK as FEBI did originally used to supply audi with these and the wishbone bushes as the original spare ones I have unused are definitely Audi parts supplied by Febi (febi and audi logo and numbers on them).

These is a lot of opinion on different parts suppliers, Meyle never were original parts suppliers but maybe their HD parts are Ok but the Meyle rear shocks I put on our Golf TDi 130BHP were leaking within 1 year.

On some BMW forums they are really critical about Meyle suspension parts as being cheap made in China stuff.

On another forum (volvo) I came across a post critising Lemforder parts as being poor quality and Febi and Meyle as good so you need to form your own opinion.

I know both Lemforder and Febi were Audi OE suppliers and I've never had poor quality Lemforder ball joints (again original Audi B3/B4 ball joint parts can be either Lemforder or TRW) and then again I've never had poor quality Febi bushes but some of their ball joints definitely do not look as good as Lemforder. Meyle on the other hand I've not really much experience of their B3/B4 parts although I do have a pair of their B3 subframe bushes with the audi part number on (but no audi logo).

You pays your money and makes your own choice but whey pay OE parts when a lot of the time you can get the same parts from their original supppliers at a fraction of the price, thats probably why so many parts go NLA as we stop buying them from the stealers.

                          Dave.

                            Well

AP Motorsport shop in Mirfield Yorks (not to far away I might ring and see what price they quote over the phone for collection) has cancelled my order , apparently no stock and none soon, I just think at £8 a pair and free delivery (I ordered 10 bushes) they were not making any profit. So not to be outdone I've found another supplier and I'm trying again, will keep you informed.

Ebay prices appear to be around £8 to £11 for the same Febi bushes so quite a saving if I actually receive any.
