    Steering rack play

    Evening all

I appear to have some play in the steering rack, I'm sure I have read that the racks are adjustable ?

How can this be done ?

If the worst comes to the worst il remove it and get refurbished , anyone had theirs done before ?

Mine is LHD so sourcing a replacement will be tough

My understanding is that they are adjustable, in that a certain amount of play can be eliminated by adjustment.

    Where's Error, he should know.

Yes they are adjustable. There is a 10mm nut on top of the cover where the steering column axle meets the rack itself. You can adjust this with someone turning the steering wheel. You should start with it loose ( and making noise ) turning anti clockwise increases spring pressure on the pinion and you should find a point where the steering is quiet but can also self centre when on the move.
