    WTB Poly Subframe mounts?

I was going to add this to my recent sub-frame mounts thread but figured more people would see that I'm after polys and respond.

What's the preferred make and vendor?

I can offer some discounts on Superflex stuff if anyone wants something. Had better experiences with those vs powerflex and the rest on various other cars, can't comment on Audi's with them to be honest.

Careful, that is £72 + VAT + Delivery, about £100 a subframe by the time they arrive -still cheaper than OEM I understand though!

Ah the dreaded VAT, only skim read the add so didn't notice, their still not a silly price though. I'm thinking about getting one set to see how they feel on the front frame, if I still find it too harsh I could whack them on the back and fit OE rubber ones on the front instead.

I have them front and rear, and powerflex in the arms, all good to me, just got to go back to 15" rims, as I am old(er) and prefer the ride over the 17s -nothing to do with the bushes, purely the skinniness of the tyres. (45 profile)

I'd be up for a set of front and rear subframe bushes. What sort of price could you get them for? On the website it lists 10 & 12mm options. Does anyone know what this is a measurement of?

Difference between 3B and ABY AFAIK, ABY uses the bigger bolts (or was that only for the hubs to the legs?)

Yes, earlier are 10mm bolts, later 12mm, so this is referring to the ID of the steel bush insert. Not sure when the cross-over was, but probably best best to just nip one undone and have a look.

Incidentally one of the inserts I had was ever so slightly too small for my M10 bolt to go through, confirmed but not being able to get a 10mm drill down through it without some power behind it, was only some machining marks IIRC, but it was there.

*edit* I found somewhere that it is post 1991 they were 12mm.

Sounds like my 95 ABY will be 12mm then?

Yeah, but I would still check, it is only one bolt

Well I've ordered one set so I can try them on the front, if I get on with them I'll get some more for the rear frame, if not I'll use these on the back and go OE on the front. Their two piece like the alloy items so I should be able to fit them without too much bother and certainly without fully dropping the frames, will whack them on as soon as they arrive and report back.

Hi Kit,i thought you had some subframe bushes lined up with Alex?

I did some digging about a little and noticed going back a few years mind that one of the mods/administrators used them on his car and hated the squeaking noise and went back to OEM.I am confused so many different opinions. Cheers Mark.

Unfortunately it was a bit too much hassle for Alex to help me out, he's got his frames bolted up with new bolts which by rights should be changed every time and it would be a backwards step with his car's reassembly, which I fully understand.

I'm pretty sure some people have found that the poly wishbone bushes squeak, mine don't at all by the way, the sub frame mounts shouldn't move enough to admit any sound so I can't see as the noise the coming from them.

Yeah, I know what you mean about conflicting opinions, some folks say they found no difference with solid alloy bushes, some hate them. My feeling is there needs to be a little give somewhere in a road car's chassis to help deal with uneven road surfaces etc. I'm hopping the poly bushes have enough give in them soak up some of this, I'm dam sure the alloy one's don't.
