    Compbrake Coilover spring sizes

Has anyone converted to Compbrake Coil over? I'd like to hear what length of springs and poundage people have chosen, as they seem to be somewhere in the region of 11'' from my calculations. I was considering going for 11'' 500lb springs or 8'' 500lb springs with three inch helpers. Any help would be appreciated.

I run generic coilovers on mine, not sure what brand springs are but I think I have 300 front and 350 rears, 8" springs. I could definitely handle harder rates though, its not bad at all. What anti-roll bars are you running too as that will play a part.

I dont think you want 11" springs as they simply wont compress enough and give you any decent ride height. Ideally you want 8" springs and helpers, thats what I need to do as at full extension the springs come off the perch and can get noisy. But mines been off the road over a year so its quite easy to ignore!

    hope that helps!

500lb, 11" springs will give you rather a high rideheight! Don't forget that loaded length is free length - F/k, so the 11" springs will be 3" longer than 8" (obviously minus the 1/2" for the compressed helper and joiner).

I did a spreadsheet to calculate all this a while ago, I think a version of it is linked in the DIY coilover thread.

I took axle weights as 850kg front, 650kg rear, based on the data from Hamish's corener weighted Avant hillclimb thread.

        Here:-

Put in the data you know and then check the spring seat offset.

Data is all approximate but should give you a good starting point.

Give me a shout if you need anything clarifying. All theory though, never put that lot in to practice...
