Ok, but can I use 225 in front and 235 in rear ???

My two front tires are a bit square, and I still have a good pair 225/45 from my Golf GTI.

yes,as long as both tyres on each axle are same size it makes no difference, just a bit more traction on rear than the front

Ask Lee he has this set up I think only in 18's , 225x45x18 on front and 235x45x18 on the back.
Personaly I think there should be 4 tyres in one size.

The diameters should be the same. The widths are not a factor.

Diameter will be different because the tires are the same aspect ratio.
I wouldn't recommend running 225/45 and 235/45 on a quattro car...i will be 1.3% different and about 0.2inch difference in diameter. I mean, you could...the center torsen can handle the diffence, but i wouldn't do it.

I run 225/45R17 on the rear with ET35 and it is a very tight fit on the inside. I'm guessing the sedan has the same rear suspension so be careful with the offset if running 235 wide tyres at the rear.

I have run the exact same on a 7.5" wheel...fits perfect on my sedan:

Now I currently have 235/45 and that's much tighter...but I'm not mixing sizes between axles.

I have 255/35R18 front and 235/40R18 rear. Forget those theoretical tyre calculators as they can be way off. My tyres have a mismatch of less than 1% in terms of revolutions per mile. The centre diff can tolerate a lot more than this so it is BS that you need the same size front and rear if you are resourceful enough to get hold of the correct data from the manufacturers. I run an Avant so suffer the same clearance issues as the Sedan due to the rear suspension design.

I reckon you could see a good 5% difference if you have gross wear differences between front and rear axles...many people are running diffeerent diameters front and rear without realising it.
