    Wishbone interchangeability ?

I have cast wishbones in front and forged in the rear. Is it possible to replace the rear with the cast type of wishbone? No issues?

Am I right in thinking I can change my front forged ones to cast ones?? Obviously changing inner wishbone bushes and bottom ball joints as well?

This is round the wrong way. Forged wishbones were only ever fitted to the fronts. And if you change type, the ball joint, wishbone and wheel bearing housing should all be replaced.

Gotta admit I didn't check. It's too cold to crawl under the car just now. I want to change from the forged/stamped type to the cast type.

What you write is more important anyway. As I understand it, it IS then possible to change types in front. You write "should" change but not "must" change wheel bearing housing so I take it this is optional.

              cheers,

              Rich

Isn't there a confusion of terms here guys ?

I think of the two types as being forged vs pressed...

All S2 Coupes have pressed wishbones at the rear.
Early ones mostly had forged ones at the front.

I have now heard/read "cast", "forged", "stamped", "pressed" and a few more I can't recall. Considering we are a mix of Brits and 'muricans plus linguistically gifted Swedes, Italians, Danes, Norwegian, Latvians, Poles, Dutch, Hungarians, Rumanians, Finns and some others I have forgotten, I am surprised that this kind of mixup doesn't happen more often

I thought it was pressed and forged, but I presumed I had got it wrong Doh!!!!, oh well I have a 94 and it has pressed ones, can anyone confirm that I dont have to change my wheel bearing housing to upgrade to the forged ones.

                    Cheers Roo

Don't worry about the wheel bearing hub carriers. As long as you have the two piece struts, the lower arms are interchangeable in the front. All the rears were stamped. The Bushings are different.
