Changed my brake pads and improved the steering feel?

I think someone explained this to me, but I cant find the answer on the forum.

My RS2 steering was feeling like rubbish and the (!) light would come up going up my driveway etc. I knew the front brake pads were very low, but when I replaced the pads it improved the handling/steering greatly in the form of feedback and steering weight.
What happened? I know when pads get low the brake fluid gets low, so when I replace the pads the brake fluid rises again, but how does this effect the steering?

If you've had car up in the air to work on brakes etc I dare say the top mounts will have moved and maybe affected steering feel. Can't see anything else making a difference to be honest.

None, I changed the pads with the car on the ground.

You'd need to be a fucking magician to change the pads without taking the wheels off lol

Something was obviously binding before. Jacking the car up and removing the wheel must have dislodged the source of the binding.

Hey, if it is good news, don't question it too much. Just be happy.

This, I expect one or both of the callipers was sticky and causing drag on a wheel(s).
