ive got a 034 quick rack and it has movement when you change directions the rack rotates (the rack end where the two bolts go throught rotates almost enough for the bracket too catch on the body of the rack) bit concerned it may jam?
had a look through some threads but cant find where or if there is an adjustment for this??
thanks
mal
yep thats what i thought. so its not normal?? ive removed the part of the bracket where the dampier goes so it doesnt catch but iam still not happy with it.
maybe a exploded view might give me a clue? anyone
thanks
mal
ok lets pretend its just STD rack and yes ive had issues with 034 but thats not helping,
now that ive removed the bracket part where the dampier attaches it cant catch but could it still come out of mesh or something
Its in my S1E2 rep and it will be in my mined at 200kms plus with trees very close so need to put my mined at ease
thanks
mal
Its hard to work out exactly what and how its moving from your description. However you would be surprised how much a standard rack will move about so I wouldn't think it was just down to the 034 part.
where the bracket bolts to the end of the rack itself is moving left too right as it should but the rack/ shaft itself rotates so the bracket rotates up down so if it rotates up and turn right the bracket could hit/catch on the housing of the rack and you would have no more right turn????
its hard to explain

sure one of the bolts on the firewall hasn't sheared or something. From distant memory of changing the rack on my 3b, its bolted through the arch on the drivers side in two places then two further 17mm nyloc bolt onto two threads on the firewall to anchor the rack. I can't imagine any rotation unless something is physically broken at a mount point. A little video would be really useful here I think...
You'd think the pinion would stop that shaft rotating wouldn't you? Very strange
Unless the rack housing has split and letting everything wallop around?

sounds like whatever mod they did to the rack has not been done correctly
