Morning chaps,
I discovered that one of the hoses at the bottom of my hydraulic reservoir has been weeping slowly for quite a while and as such, I now need a top-up of fluid. The writing on top of the reservoir says to use G002000 fluid which, I've found at Halfrauds. The back of this bottle clearly states this spec and that it is SYNTHETIC fluid. I've done some digging around and have found various conflicting statements about mixing mineral/synthetic fluid of this grade and whether or not its a good idea. I don't know what the fluid in my reservoir currently is, there's my dilemma. (no evidence in vehicle history to indicate its ever been flushed/replaced, just topped up)
Personally I would have thought that as long as a given fluid conforms to G002000 then, it should be mixable with any other fluid conforming to that grade?
What are people's thoughts on this? I really don't want the expense and hassle of replacing all the fluid if I don't have to but, also don't want to bork the rack and pump!
Or am I just getting myself in a knot over semantics?
cheers for now,
mike
