Urgent CV Joint Info Required Please!

hi all,

my S6 (c4) is in the workshop and the mechanic tells me that he can't match up the front external cv joints on my car with the listings that he's got.

he tells me that the joints listed are offered with either "snap ring retainers" or "external circlip".

do you have any idea which one will suit the saloon (manual box) and do you know the part numbers for them?

You didn't say front or rears. The fronts on the C4s do not have the snap rings but the rears do. One of the follies of working on the C4 yourself is you might do a front CV joint and get it out with a hammer etc. Then when you go and do a rear and use the same technique, you don't realize that there are snap rings and the hubs have snap ring grooves and when you hit things with the hammer to get the joint out, you break the metal of the groove, ruining the hub. (Not me, but a local UrS6 friend).
