  • Wishbones ????????

Following on from the dumb4$$ polybush question.
Here's what I'm fitting to my CQ, cast front wishbones(2nd hand obviously) and new ball joints but which goes where.......I think the one on the left is for the O/S and the one on the right is for the N/S........the ball joints I think are next to their correct sides.(if that makes sense).......but should the ball joints sit under the arm as in the picture or are the studs in the wrong way and the ball joint should sit on the top side of the arm?
I found the ball joint retaining brackets in with some spares I bought a while back but there's allready studs in the wishbones.....should I be knocking these out and use the brackets?

Cast arms use studs and nuts if I recall correctly. Pressed arms use different ball joints and bolts with the captive nuts

What do you make of the pic?? Ball joints are TRW as advised by "Rusty"(I think?)

Thinking I don't need to use the bracket things as there's nothing wrong with the studs.

C'mon folks, I just a wee nod in the right direction.

Ball joint sits under the forged wishbone. Balljoint ending with cross referenced Audi part number ending 365A goes on the left and 366A the right.

I think you *might* have balljoints for pressed wishbones rather the forged type. Fear not, you have the correct items.

        According this :

Ok thanks, not sure about how to cross reference the joints I have. I have the joints so as they're sitting back towards the rear. I'll get the wheels on and if somethings not right then I'll swap the joints......
.......unless someone can confirm how they should sit?

XJBJ116 and XJBJ318 taken from the invoice, don't have the boxes they came in.

I think they might be supplier numbers rather than TRW numbers.
From your pic, It looks like you have the right ones based on the second pic in the first link I posted.

TRW numbers are JBJ116 & JBJ318 as per Rusty's info.

Can you confirm the pic below(not mine) is for the O/S and the ball joint is fitted the correct way?

Assuming left and right is when seated in the drivers seat then I have the ball joints on the right way, the pic above appears to be wrong??.... has a 365A fitted to the right hand arm??

Its definitely the right side wishbone ( as sat in car - osf for UK) but its got the left side balljoint fitted to it, just checked under my own S2. balljoint pivot is more in the centre, so must face back not forward when mounted on the wishbone.
