Help needed, how to mount koni,s?

    xHi Huys!

I have a silver s2 cupe - 92, And my dampers are in a terrible shape.
They would be best on the sea
Will by yellow konis + H&R shocks soon.
Does any one here have a guide how to change dampers and shocks ?
Should be nice with some pictures, and what tools to use.

    Cheers Pelle

    Pelle,

It is very similar to most machpherson strut suspensions. On the front you need to remove from the strut the bracket holding the brake line to it, the ARB drop link, the steering arm then there are two large bolts holding the strut to the bearing housing. Remove these so that when the top mounts are taken off the strut can be lifted out.

Open the bonnet up and remove the black plastic cup over the top mount. Use a Lambda socket and a suitable allen key to undo the first bolt. Have someone hold the strut while you do this to lift the strut out.

Use a set of spring compressors and then use the notched tool for removing the inner nut from the top mount. lift these off then use a plumbers wrench to undo the nut over the shock. take this off then fit your new shock and do the reverse of the above.

It is very similar for the rear also except you have to remove some of the trim from the boot.

Also worth changing the top mounts at the same time.
