  • freont strut brace

Hi has anyone fitted a front strut brace? does it improve handling or just cause the car to become a right pig to handle with masses of understeer. Quattro is prity good. Have fitted gas billies with uprated springs, have been told about the top of the turets on some cars where they have started to split, will fitting a strut brace improve or harm????

An S2 hss a front strut brace as standard.
Do you mean fitting a front one on the rear or fitting a front one to a non S2.

    What car is it on?
Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird Turbo....undergoing major changes.....
S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...

Umm...what car to you have? I understood that *ALL* S2s and RS2s came from the factory with strut tower bars. PN 8A0805645A

If you don't have one as standard yes they do make a good improvement, as does adding a rear one and a lower front brace too. Anything you can do to stiffen up the chassis is a good thing.

I've fitted one to my 80. It's cut & weld job but might have some issues with battery clearance.
Also recommended to remove topmounts when welding otherwise you'll melt them.

I've often wondered if it is worthwhile bracing across the back of the subframe also

Yes That's pretty much what my lower brace does. Makes a difference
