    Reat Strut Brace Idea

I am looking to design a rear strut brace for my 3B S2 which I assume will fit most coupes.
I am going to take measurements tonight and start drawing up some ideas for pricing. Looking at getting it made from carbon steel to start with.

If it is cost effective I will look at a group buy and wanted to know what people would prefer:

    Bar:
    1. A fixed bar that bolts to brackets on both strut towers
    2. A completely fixed unit (no adjustment)
    3. An adjustable bar
    4. Square or Round

    Mounting:
    1. Curved plate to either weld or bolt to strut tower
    2. Bolt directly to strut via the top nut

For plug and play something like the 2Bennett one would be nice I think.

Yeah I have seen this and have the same brace but I tried to modify the brackets but cant get them close enough with the tools I have so getting a pair made up. This is why I was thinking about designing a complete brace and getting prices to see if people would be interested.

I was thinking about a similar one to the fixed 2Bennet one but with the bar positioned on the centreline of the top nuts. It will definitely not cost $495!!!
My concern is that not every car is the same and whilst one strut bar may fit a car, it may not fit another.

I integrated the bar with my top mount design

The rear struts don't rotate axially but will move a little when the suspension moves in and out. You could model it from the geometry and work out how much but as you're trying to remove movement, I don't think lining the suspension strut tops together is a good plan.

I'd look at something along the lines of the mount saver inserts with a boss sticking through the tower. You'll need a revised cap to prevent the strut falling out when not under load.

Sorry Rusty, being a bit slow. Are you saying its not the best idea to mount the strut brace to the towers or directly to the top of the suspension strut?

Brace the chassis not the strut mount itself

I welded a front set to the rear and slightly shortened a square section front bar.

Still removeable if you want the useable boot space and looks perfectly OEM...

                    Liking the OMP solution though...

I did look for front brackets but could seem to find them.

Had some brackets made up to use with either the OMP bar that I have or maybe a bigger custom bar.

Good to see someone looking at producing these.

I've long wanted one but haven't really liked the existing designs enough to buy one.

Is it possible to make one that is fully functional but won't interfere with folding down the rear seats? I love the utility of the cargo space.

Well I am going to use an OMP brace for now that can be removed easily. I may look at designing a bigger brace in the near future using the sme ides as the OMP one.
