The standard trick is to thread a standard UrS wheel bolt up into that sleeve until it grabs tight and then pull down. The sleeve is round at the top end and oval at the bottom, the wheel bolt is just the right size.

If you haven't seen this, you might want to read it through:

VDT, buy two new sleeves and butcher the old ones to get them out. IMHO, you are wasting your time and patience on trying to get them out in re-useable form. The wheel bolt method never worked for me.

What I have found is good to get them 'out' is to buy a gasket scraper from Teng Tools and use it as a chisel to slice through the sleeve on the top and bottom of the actual control arms as it sits between the subframe. There is enough play in the subframe to allow you to do this without damaging anything. I was prepared to sacrifice my gasket scraper but this 'abuse' didn't damage it or the subframe. It is thinner than a wood chisel which is the key to it's effectiveness.

Hope you can understand this 'procedure'.

This eBay link is purely attached to 'get' the photo to allow people to see the tool I'm referring to.

Dave may not like this method, but after doing this job at least four times on C4 cars, it works a treat, and helps to make a hard job of changing the the front lower controls arms that bit less painful and trying.

I also appreciate the sleeves are 'expensive' from the dealer for what they are in terms of material, but I also understand that they can be obtained from Ebay.de for less than a UK dealer will charge, but tbh it may not be worth the hassle compared to ordering them form your local dealer. If your C4 is a keeper, then I suggest ordering a few sets before they go NLA.

If one thinks these are too dear, then a UrS6 is the wrong car for you.

      HTH.
