Spring colour code upwards or downwards?

Hey folks!

Been installing new springs on the S2, but im getting insecure about the colour codes position. Does it have to face downwards towards the shockarbsorberhousing or upwards against the tower? Both ways seems to fit, though the spring has a different shape in each end.

To clarify, I think you may be asking about a rear OEM spring on a 1993 car with stock suspension, so a B4 style coil-over, correct? If yes then (as per attached), narrow spring end on the lower steel perch.

Sorry for being too direct ☺ im running stock suspension. Stock springs.
When you are gonna install the springs you have to decide wether the colour code has to point upwards or downwards ☺

The colour code dot's on stock springs should be at the bottom.
