  • Question about power steering hose

Just wondering if I can use a generic power steering hose to replace one that I think is leaking?

By way of background its for use on an ABY. I am referring to the hose that runs between the reservoir and the ribbed metal pipe that I think cools the fluid. The metal pipe runs infront of the main radiator.

As its a straight piece of hose, my thoughts are to use a piece of hose for power steering applications. I just wondered if there is anything to be aware of? One particular question that sprung to mind - is the Audi power steering fluid (G004000) going to cause problem with a hose made of NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber)?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

This is the piece of hose I am referring to - pictures always make it clearer what your talking about.

Just another thought - could I use a silicone hose, or is that not a good idea?

6.66 Euro's is fair enough then it'll cost a further 28, yes that's right 28 bloody 28 to get to your house...I hate AT.

A bit of generic PAS hose will be fine, don't use silicone.

Just to finish off the thread, I found a hose for a BMW's power steering system.

This is a Febi Part - the part number is 36661, which is simply cut down to length.

I got this one off ebay for about £8. Happy days.
