Koni STR.T - Huge disappointment

That looks terrible Janis unless of course you have the power of a Russian weight lifter?
I know this is after the horse has bolted but i did say at the time when you were considering buying cheap shocks .........not to. My life has taught me one thing many years ago.Buy cheap often means pay double what you should have in the long run.Always best to go tried and tested quality. If you cannot afford........you wait ........simples. You can borrow my Audi tool no problem.96 URS6 plus speck saloon

I know Mark, I expected them to be at least standard quality and stiffness. Have bought "cheap" before and had no issues, just think these two comes from a bad batch. Anyways, it is what it is, and I'm ordering B6's tomorrow.
At this point I hope the seller will be a man about it and just refund the money, rather than making a big deal out of it, as he's already mentioned no refund policy to which I told him I don't want to see any KONI products near my car ever again.
Thanks a lot for the tool mate, will save me so much time
I'll PM you for details

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put a shock absorber in a hole. How can you even install it incorrectly?
The other side is a little bit stiffer, but still can be pushed down with 1 finger. Did I install that slightly incorrect?

Well clearly you've managed to do it.
Assuming that you've installed Item 26 cap properly and all the other goodies, Item 36 strut suspension bearing needs to be attached to Item 33 the concave support which it clearly is not.
Then Item 30 BFW and the top nut, item 39 while holding the top of the strut with an Allen key of some fashion.

I couldn't see any oil leaks from the shock, so I think they just use cooking oil instead of hydraulic
but I've read about str.t shocks and it's normal for them to be incredibly soft or faulty out of the box.

The ideal would be to get your money back and add to it and buy Bilstein and put the grief own to experience.
They do seem to be rubbish. Do they have TUV approval? Just idly curious.
Someone else may have their original shocks in not too bad a condition that they have in their shed from when they upgraded their own shocks? As an interim measure until Bilstein shocks come into financial reach.
Best wishes.Comment

I took off the top mount to see how good/bad the shock is, I do not drive around like that
I'm thinking that you are an idiot if you think that is correct.
