My mechanic is trying to convert the front suspension on my AEL quattro A6 using a coilover conversion kit from bainbridge, but he's hit a snag in that he doesn't think the cone top spring perch fits the standard c4 top mounts.
He's saying all the weight of the car will be pushing on the centre rubber bush on the top mount. And is likely to fail.
So, am I missing something that needs to be fitted between the cone top and the c4 top mount?
Or do I need a different type of top mount altogether for it to fit?
Or will it be fine as it is??
Also, the cone top only seems to fit over the threaded part of the shock absorber, but there is a second lip/ridge stopping it going any farther down. ??
Got us both scratching our heads at this one.
