    Bilstein or Koni???

I need some new shockers (still on original, 10 years old and one's leaking). A previous owner put new lower springs on. These are 3-4 years old and a limegreen/yellowy colour, but I've no idea what make they are. The car I've got is an S2 estate with aircon. Fast road use only and a degree of ride quality required. While I'm at it I'll get the wishbone bushes, ARB link rods, ball joints, tie rod ends and top mounts (blue?) replaced too. The question is, which shockers and where from? Also is there anything I've missed apart from a bank loan!!

Those sound like Koni springs mate at least the description matches that of the Koni springs i've got in my garage.

A while ago I brought a set of uprated springs and dampers for my old vw golf gti, the springs were bright limegreen and manufactured buy a german company called weitec. Didn’t stay bright green for long though thanks to the muddy roads I have to drive through!
They make pretty reasonably priced kits, I got them from here
Really well made suspension components, and not your usual choice, I guess its because they only have one UK distributor.

eurocarparts can do some crackin prices on bilstein suspension components, but they neglect the older audi and vw models, its worth maybe giving them a ring, as I've found they order items they don’t list in for you.

motorsportworld.co.uk i think do loads of Bilstein and Demontweeks.co.uk too do them. For Koni, give Camberley Auto Factors a call (should be listed on the net somewhere - they are the Uk importer of them and probably have good prices as they are cheap for most stuff I enquire about.

Recently I bought some. Eurocarparts gave me a better price than MotorSportWorld

                        BOTH ITEMS IN STOCK
                        P30-3005 @ GB £69.65 each
                        Pe3-3086 @ GB £83.74 each

If you have an S2 you should get the M55 version (Pe3-3086) for the front and if it is a Coupe Quattro the M52 version for the front. Rears there is only one option.

                        Cheers

Avant damper choices are limited. There are no rear Bilstein dampers suitable. QRsport are hoping to source in the future.
If already lowered then koni but get someone decent to set the adjustment as you have non standard springs. On RS2 1/4 turn rear and 1 turn front from softest seems to be the consensus. Ask around to get advice. Ring AMD, QST or QRsport and ask about settings with non standard springs.
If you had standard springs you could have talked to vagparts re RS2 OEM dampers. Not bad when new and a good match to S2 air con avants ( same springs as RS2 )
Finally it is worth trying to find out who made the springs as the same company dampers may well be the best partner if available.

Replace topmounts with OEM via vagparts
                              Consider powerflex for wishbone
                              Keep subframe standard
That would be my thoughts given your stated aims.
