Hey panzer, I had asked about this a while back and was told that it would not work.
I think that it will work but the lower ball joint is fastened with three bolts on the forged control arm and only two on the stamped steel control arm. So you would need to use the ball joint for the forged control arm. Also, the locating point of the strut could be in a different location when mounted to the rear strut, i.e. the wheel may set foward/rearward in the wheelhouse.

      Chris, Billzcat1 has done it...

The guy behind the short shift kit apparently has done this mod.
I'm gonna see if he's got pix.

        Chris, just thought of something.....

could you not have a compensation plate made for the difference in positioning of the strut? Just thinking out loud...

This is a thread going on Audiworld about using stamped front arms on the back of a Type 89 20V sedan. Could be interesting.

Just viewing the underside and taking measurements it appears do-able. Not much time to spend on the project with all the training required of the new job.

Oh I almost forgot, I swapped the front control arms right to left to increase the caster angle in the front suspension. I went from about 2.0 degrees to 5.5 degrees caster. The front end "stuck" better in the corners but the tires (205/60/15) rubbed the inner wheelhouse liners. This condition would be exacerbated with wider tires and wheels.
