    leaking servo pump

My servo looses almost a half container fluid in a week. The pump is oily and some of the ducts are a bit oily. Is there a way to renew the pump or not?

The power steering pump has a tendency to leak. There at quite a few plugs on the pump with a large cross on the head. The O-rings under those plugs often leak and need to be changed. It is a standard repair kit from Audi.

For a real rebuild, I think Alistair E. did a real rebuild and wrote it up.

Yeah, the o-ring under the top plug was almost digested. The new o-ring cost me almost 1/6 euro. And the beep and blinking sign is over now. Thank you for the hints guys.

I have the same problem and have replaced the O-Ring under the Cross Head Screw twice but it still leaks under high rev.
I can't seem to find 17mm Rubber O-Rings I got 16 and 18mm but no 17. Audi here in SA dont stock parts for this. But they offerd to sell me a new unit.

Should it be a rubber O-Ring or will a brass one work?

IIRC it has to be rubber to seal correctly.
Marty and the guys at vagparts can get these, and I think I'm right in saying Marty will ship to SA if not sort it for Marty to send to me and I'll send to SA for you.

I really do hate PAS pumps just had mine throw nearly 2 litres of fluid all over the engine bay, it's another story but could have been avoided if not for some seriously dodgy workmanship from someone

I've never seen this unit in bits but can a Dowty washer be used?

BTW anyone had any ideas about relocating the PS pump? I am thinking for the future about low-mounting this and giving me a path to run a reversed intake with front LH mounted throttle body. I will also be losing the A/C so that is one thing out of the way. In fact that is happening right now!

you might want to consider ordering the cross headed plugs as well as the rubber seals, as they can be a ****** to loosen and can get damaged in the process.

I have replaced the o-ring in the pump twice and no use, it was leaking under high revs, so finally I bought from local dealer original plug & o-ring set and the leaking has gone! they sell the plug & ring as a set (sorry, do not remember the number). btw, it costed me less vs 2 o-rings.

I changed the o-ring 3 times , with normal & high pressure blow all of them
then order the screw & o-ring from audi no problem since
