It will last for a while on stock power. But tuned to about 400bhp then it starts to last less time. You cant really tell easily without trying it out.

Don't wanna be pessimistic , but I've usually found on VAG's that clutch judder usually hints at a flywheel problem; warped or damaged.

Gives you something else to look at when you've stripped it down, DMFW damage is usually obvious or visible by excessive movement on the wheel itself, if there's nothing obvious and the clutch components are ok then it becomes a bit of a diagnosis nightmare whenn trying to indicte the f/wheel, (spoke with Tom on this before), even within the VAG franchises and tech helplines, there's liitle information on f/wheel tolerances/specs & diagnosis other than the obvious probs mentioned above.

Hopefully when you get round to stripping it down you'll find an obvious culprit in the clutch pieces , after doing one clutch I can only sympathise with those contemplating doing their own, a few others & myself have put our own good/bad experiences of the clutch change within a couple of threads somewhere in here.

yeah i remember at the garage meet doug and other were changing the gearbox overnight and just had it in by about 8am. I have an idea of what may have caused it since I rebuilt the engine a couple of years back due to a previous owner the thrust washer had come away from the crank so the crank and everything moved back and forth so that may have caused it.

So 400bhp (550nm) would that be the limit???
QST advice that with standard clutch this power should not be a problem.
                  Dialynx say upgrade.

Is there going to be a group buy for ABY/ADU clutches?

above 400 an upgrade isnt far off the cards since the clutch wont last that long then
