gear box tech 6 speed

my gear selector or shifter was in a very bad state it's seen better days. so i order a new 1 from vag parts, the short shifter. on the web site it said i had modify it for the 6 speed. so did as show on the photos. the problem i am having is 2nd gear, it's sort of hard to get in gear. so i am thinking shall i just order a new again but this time from the the stealers.

has any one done a short shift mod if so did have any problems with the gears.

i want to get this beast back on the road again.

I also fitted the short shifter (although my selector was pretty much ok prior) and had to muck around with the 1st and 2nd gear guide-the bent section with the black plastic bit on it-as i found it somewhat awkward getting into second gear also.It's still not perfect but I found that by adjusting the above mentioned section by bending it with pliers I could get a more direct selection from 1st to second, I still think it needs another small tweek to improve it further.
It certainly does what it says on the tin but the S2 box itself is much notchier than my 5 speed 90 20V quattro.

I had that problem but it went away after 2 weeks when the shifter ran in, now gear changes are effortless and really smooth

hi i have taken the guide out the black plastic bit and it still the same. what do think guys get a new 1 from the stealers.
