    Diff lock stuck on?

Hi guys, after recently getting the s2 to run!(its great! cheers wab!) i have been driving it around a little and in the wet/damp weather going round roundabouts/corners at slow speeds and yes i mean about 20-25mph! and at high speed around country lanes, the back end slides, i have spun on a couple of roundabouts now, and luckily on the lanes i managed to correct it!
anyone got any ideas? it seems to me like the diff lock is stuck on, ive heard that its vaccuum controlled.
i have also found by the ecu a loose vaccuum hose (not the ecu one, bunged it up - its black plastic tube!) a kinda valve thing with 3 in/out nipples and a 2 pin plug cable going to it and theres also a kinda black canister thing by the glovebox with a in/out nipple on it. not too sure if this is anything to do with difflock if it is i'd be greatfull if someone can tell me which way this 3 nippled monster goes? and which pipes go to it! LOL, need to get it sorted or i know i'm gunna abuse the fact it goes sideways so easily!

2nd problem now! sorry about the essay!
at anykind of speed when i put my foot on the accelerator the whole car kinda jogs forward like the transmission is really slack, also makes a kind of clunking noise, dosn't really sound healthy! any ideas? also at high speeds e.g 65-85mph on motorways and the likes the whole car vibrates really badly, it dosnt matter if im accelerating slowly or quickly its just really bad! would these 2 problems be of the same cause?

    any help much appreciated!

    cheers

It sounds more like an alignment issue or crap tyres. I would check the alignment first

Yea Steve is still looking for an ECU, he is using mine at the moment but it keeps pinking, not sure why as apparently it runs fine with urs (Wab), mines an MTM one but nothing else has been changed on my engine?

I'll bet your car has air conditioning - thats what the auxiliary vacuum connection is for - the recirculation control. You are right to bung that up for now, but it needs properly connecting... suggest you compare with another car in your area.

If your diff lock really is on full time you will hear all sorts of nasty tyre scrubbing noises when turning corners. Unlikely to be the case...

Suggest you either have really badly aligned suspension, crap tyres or something major like that... broken mountings or really bad wishbone bushes ? It could indeed be related to the clunking noise you describe.
