Rear axle - gear set changing

How hard would you say that it is to change the gear set, both crown and pinion, in a rear axle? I now have a V8 rear axle, with a Torsen a 4:11 gears. Suppose I can get my hands on a V6 rear axle with "I don't know what gearing but not correct". Now, how much work would it be to get the pinion and crown from the V8 axle into the V6 axle? Thing is, the V6 axle was cheap and it seems that other axles are gard to find. I worried that I won't get it right, I mean, adjusting the pinion axially. Do I need any special tools? I mean, it looks like I should need some tool to get the pinion nut to come loose.

I am looking at doing this swap as well. Creating a 3.89 Torsen using V6 B4 ring and pinion plus Torsen. Is this possible?

          V6 35/9
          S2 37/9

So I need to change it. 2.6 had 37/9 but 2.8 had 35/9 AFAIK. I hope I'm wrong here.

Correct, B4 V6 is 3.89:1. Never good for the 20V IL5, as it blunts accelleration, which is why Ur quattros, including the 20V (RR) are not as quick as they should be.

Fritz Uncle Ceasar Koma..... So is it worth the hazzle to change the gear set or is it worth paying 150% for a rear axle with correct gearing? I mean, 2grand for this axle, 3grand for an axle with correct gearing????

Oh and another thing. If I change the gears, I'll have a 50000km gear set instead of the 200000km gearset that any box at the breakers as. I'm going for it...
