auto box???

hi i just like to know more about auto boxes. i often hear about people saying that they bought a automatic and sometimes the gears work and other times the engine revs but no power on the wheels.

so how does the torque convert work and why do you somtimes end up topping it with fluid and lose the fluid?

and how do you know if you have a good box and fooked box when test driving one?

The best way to test for a good one is when it isnt quite warmed up, stab the pedal to the kick down a few times, this way you can tell if the gears are changing well, Also it sounds silly but a good place to read about auto boxes and torque converters is http://auto.howstuffworks.com/automa...ansmission.htm. Good place to go when i confuse my self about planetary gearsets!
