My 1996 s2 with 121000 miles has just got a new vibration in the last 2 weeks.
I have checked the gearbox mounts & engine mounts all are very tight indeed.
I thought it may have been the exhaust as I get the vibration around 2000rpm + also get a slight rattle from the exhaust at this rev range.
I have been to longlife today in Leeds ( they are very helpful) they say my exhaust is fine , BUT when we were tapping (hard ) the exhaust there was a sound just like a small bell ringing ,after a few minutes we located the ringing & its seems to be coming from the transfer box ?? around the shifter area.
I could not touch the noise or stop it from ringing when the exhaust was been tapped .
I think this may be my vibrating problem .
What could this be & who would I take it to get it fixed ??
