    Play in drivetrain

    Hi

i Need some info on the s2 drivetrain 3b 5spd when you drive the car normal and u take your foot off the gas pedal you can feel their is play in the drivetrain and then when you eccelerate you feel it again, now my question is how can it be possible that both diffs have the same play or is the rear one the problem? what else can cause this play in ecceleration and deceleration?

    thks chris

I have lots of play in the drive train. its down to the drive shaft joints. there is a lot of place in all 4 drive shafts, prop shaft seems ok.

what your experienceing could also be gearbox / engine / diff mounts

Had the bushings for the rear subframe go for me. Changed thoose and changed the big rear diff mount to powerflex. Still have same problem with play in the transmission though.

Well, recently to gte rid of the drive train play i changed :
          gear box mounts
          engine mounts
          subframe mounts
drop link arms and anti roll bars
          drive shaft CV joints
          Diff mounts

Only thing left to do is Prop Shaft.

Check driveshaft center bearing? May need adjustment or..

be replaced. You'd be surprised how much the shaft 's alingnment plays with the freeplay you are experiencing?!
Hell a new centerbearing affects the way the divetrain plays around. Just changing the washers under the centerbearing makes things feel & sound different.
