not going into gear

hi s2 is off the road can any one help ,driving normally coming off a roundabout in 2nd went to go into 3rd woundn,t go in nor any other gear the car was running sweet up to this point no clutch slip could it be the master cylinder or the slave cylinder,is taking the gearbox out an engine out job i,ve got access to ramps please help

If the engine is off can you select gears, but clutch doesnt release to select gears with the engine running?

Cos thats how my clutch went when it did, not saying thats your problem but thats how mine failed, was the original tho after something like 150k from memory

thanks s2 ANT would the clutch just go like that i,ve looked at the master cylinder it looks ok and the brake fluid hasn,t gone down so it might be the clutch the car has done 128000 miles so its about time ,once its fixed i think ill sell it my mk2 golf is up and running now

i was driving mine fine on a dual carriage way, stopped for a roundabout, pulled away in 1st, changed to 2nd, went to change to 3rd and nothing, pedal wouldnt release the clutch.

Like i say, it might not be the clutch but thats how mine went
