Not everyone charges sky high prices you know there are still some garages and specialists out there that are very cost effective but there is no excuse for them forgetting to tighten the subframe bolts, although I do remember one "specialist" who sent a customer on his way without the lower pinch bolt fitted to one of the front struts. (and NO it wasn't me)

well sorry to hear that mate. its amazing how ***** like that can forget to tighten the main bolts on the subframe. they were obviously ford mechanics who aint got a clue about decent solid cars. shudnt even be using the old 1's TUT TUT!! ur very lucky they didnt snap or then u wud of been in trouble. Thats why u shudnt let any tom dik harry messing around with ur car. just always double check urself coz its ur life at risk not theirs.

I know, I have done a little research now and it seems that the Sub-frame bolts definatlly should have been changed.
The thing is thou that this is a very good garage in general (apart form this major ****up) they have always been honest especially with pricing and never take on jobs that they cant handle(Theoretically). So don't want to go in there having a huge go at them because everyone can make mistakes and i am sure they didnt do it on purpose.

The only problem is that after closer inspection it now turners out that some of the welding on the exhaust carriers has gone, there is a definite tear along the welds that must have occurred from all the violent shaking that took place a couple of times while i was trying to work out where the problem was coming from.

Anyway, i have some pics and will show them tomorrow, see what they say.

Has any one else experienced this sort of thing from a honest garage that they usually trust 100%??

                Cheers bo

Dont no about honest garage but i once took my first car i had mk1 fiesta to a garage after hitting a curb and bending the wishbone and other suspention parts ,any way after a couple of miles when you shut off the gas the car dove violently in to the curb,it turned out to be only one bolt half tight holding the new parts to the car and the whole unit twisted as you shutoff causing the wheels to turn ,i was 17 at the time and i dont think they gave a toss to be honest.Talk about under steer.

To be fair everyone is human and even the best of us can make mistakes (I make one every morning, I get out of bed ) and if you were to have a failiure and you made the garage responible pay up, that is what seperates the good from the bad. That is why they have insurance cover and it isn't cheap either. For example my motortrade cover costs me in excess of £3k a year. I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I would go back to the garage who did the work and show them what you have found and any issues relating to this error.
